Hello! Welcome to Butterfly Bakery's food blog. Here you can find all of my favourite vegan recipes and tips and tricks that I have learnt from my time being a vegan baker. 

I love to bake homely food like banana bread, flapjacks, muffins etc. But, I also love to focus on healthy baking alternatives like many vegans I know. Here on my blog, you will find both!

HELLO, MY NAME IS AVA AND I'M...

A baker, a blogger, an animal lover and a best friend of two amazing bunnies, Moony and Tonks! I am also the one who writes, films, bakes, edits and publishes all of my blog and Instagram posts :). 


I am 13 years old and my passion is vegan baking. I love testing new recipes and being able to share them with people who have similar interests. I hope that I can inspire people to have a plant based lifestyle and help our animals and environment. I also love to cook but I love baking even more. My goal is to one day have my own plant-based café so I can share my cooking as well as my baking. I live in the UK in England and I hope to go to Paris to study at a patisserie college someday. 

Another passion of mine is animals and nature. So far I have been to Greece, Croatia, Tenerife, Iceland and France. I love exploring new places and the habitats of different animals. I hope to have an animal sanctuary when I get older to rescue endangered animals. I especially love highland cows, and I visit many of them in my local park. I find them to be like gentle giants. They act in a similar way to dogs and they are much gentler than you would expect because of how large they are. I have befriended the cows at my park, and I love them so much.   


So far, my baking has been fully self taught but I hope to learn from professionals when I reach the required age. I became vegan in 2014 and now I can't picture myself not being vegan. I began baking at a young age and I plan to keep baking for the rest of my life. It is something I enjoy deeply and I am so happy that I can share my recipes to others. Being a vegan baker is more challenging than non-vegan baking because most classic recipes are all meant to be made with dairy products. Sponge and meringue in particular are the hardest recipes to make vegan because of the necessary use of egg. With recipes that just require dairy products like milk and butter, there are many vegan substitutes that work just the same but that does not apply for eggs. I find it more challenging and rewarding working without dairy and eggs though. 

I began creating this blog in early 2022. For now, its like a safe for all my special recipes but I hope one day that many people from around the world will try my recipes and watch them get better over time. 

I am only just beginning my baking journey and I am so excited to share it with you all.
